Well your friend would have gotten treated here but you keep upping the stakes so you can argue. Bye.

A friend of mine, was recently refused treatment for brain tumor, because she did not have $100K to put up front, and had no insurance.

Health insurance isn't that expensive, and well worth the price. Try this online quote program:

Sorry to hear about your friend. Depending on the type of brain tumor, she may not have a good prognosis. The "good" news is (and I know it's not very good), if she becomes impoverished she can get Medicaid.

This is a lesson for all of us to get health insurance and life insurance while we are still healthy. Disability insurance, too.

And for those on Social Security, even though you've got Medicare Part A and Part B, please get a Medigap policy, it is well worth the money.

OT-kumar...if your friend was recently unemployed, and she had medical coverage with her company, regardless of who was paying the premiums, she would have qualified for COBRA for 18 months. She would pay the premiums, but she would have had coverage as she did when she was working. Why didn't she do that?

She could have paid the premiums from her unemployment check.

Many people would rather not pay the premiums, and would rather party and otherwise use the money for other non essentials....and do. Then they expect others to pick up the pieces if they become ill.

Waiting to hear the other side of the story.

If your friend has access to the Internet, she should quick check out www.drday.com and get a copy of her tape ($19.95)or you do it for her. As we all know the tenet "First, do no harm" has been supplanted by "eff 'em if they can't pay".
