Krugman advocates taking money from one pocket and putting it in another to help the economy. I dont see how that would help at all.

Easy. Studies have shown (including some from conservative think tanks) that poor people tend to spend their money right away, while rich people, having so much of it, tend to hoard it.

Hence a fiscal stimulus has a bigger impact if directed to poor and middle class people.
