I could get the backup HD for the entire system, it seems cheap enough. How fast does it transfer the data? I ask because my system has a low tolerance for background activity, due to system resource limitations. I am stunned that 384 meg of ram ended up being so inadequate. I use the End-it-all and msconfig too.

Currently, I will need tape backup because my home computer is an off-campus storage site for data from work which is still outfitted with an older tape capacity but compatible with mine. I'd love to get online backup once cable modem hits our area and sort it out then.

This problem also brings up again buying partitioning software to get this HD down to manageable slices, but Dell tech is adamantly against the idea.

So, for now, the tape will have to do I guess.
