Ya gotta love this one! From "Reason"

It Takes A Thief (10/11)
A group of Palestinians angry at being fired from the security forces kidnapped three Italian peace activists in Gaza, to try to force officials to re-hire them, reports alertnet.org. The hostages were released a day later, unharmed. No word on whether the Palestinians got their jobs back.

Where is the rest of the world on this? Germany?

bundesregierung.de
Headline: "Government horrified by abominable events on Bali"

"Der verbrecherische Anschlag hat nach Auffassung des Bundeskanzlers erneut gezeigt, dass der Terror keine Grenzen kennt und dass die Bekämpfung des internationalen Terrorismus eine globale Aufgabe ist, die nur gemeinsam von der internationalen Gemeinschaft gelöst werden kann und muss."

"The criminal attack has shown again according to the chancellor that terror doesn't know boundaries and that fighting international terrorism is a global task which can and must only by solved by the international community."

The insinuation that an opposition against an Iraq war is a "weakling position" linked to terror appeasement is not worth debating.

Karen, I think it's too far a stretch to say that countries (like Germany) which are opposed to war on Iraq are opposed to the war on terrorism.

Germany and France and many of the countries in the Middle East have joined forces with the US on the war on terrorism, but they are sovereign nations constrained by their own laws and their own interests. Germany, in particular, is doing an excellent job fighting terrorists. If we knew everything, I believe we are getting support even from countries in the Middle East that don't want it to be publicly known. A large number of terrorists have been extradited to the US from countries which prefer to remain anonymous.

The represensible attacks in Indonesia demonstrate the global reach of terrorism, and should make us all strive to focus on where we agree, and pull us together, not apart.
