John - thanks for your understanding.

As for my opinion for a better way of dealing with Iraq - I am really not qualified to make such suggestions, but I would be much more comfortable with a less aggressive foreign policy from the only remaining superpower of the world. What it looks like on this side of the ocean at present is that the current US administration is practically capitalizing on the terrorist attacks of 9/11 to subdue the countries that do not agree with them - first Afghanistan (ok, it was the home of Bin Laden, so it was sort of justified, although 6,000 civilians dead is a rather unacceptable bill), now Iraq (there really is not much grounds here for an invasion (for God's sake) as stated in the recent urgent memo sent by Tenet (CIA director) to the congress, stating that Iraq is not an urgent threat), and God only knows which country will follow. Looking at the posts here, it seems Americans are OK with attacking anything from Iran to Saudi Arabia, for reasons that are not totally clear to me, except that at this point in time, America is so strong that it can get away with it.

In my humble opinion, "reasonable foreign policy" is one where there is a maximum of diplomacy, with respect to long standing international laws (and preemptive strike is not one of these), where invasions are quite unheard of and brute force is only the last resort. Still, that is just my opinion, and I am in no way qualified to state this with any more authority than that of any citizen of the world.

Below is the link of a recent post where I have said in a little more detail why I believe the current policy against Iraq is counterproductive, and not just inhuman.
