Jancie.....ummmmmmmmm....nope.

The range of the pistol is restricted due to the velocity of the bullet and its stopping power.....in other words even a superb marksman would not try a kill at 400 yards with a .223 pistol unless they were hunting rabbits....

A pistol of this configuration would make more noise than a rifle of the same caliber....usually the shorter the barrel, the more unburned powder escapes along with a huge sound blast....meaning that firing this pistol after dark would be more revealing than would a rifle of the same caliber.

One could, with practice, learn to reload a single shot
pistol or rifle in less than 3 seconds so getting off 2 shots at the same target would be a matter of choice.

The rifle is always the better choice unless concealment is required.
