Saying there is a surplus requires a giant leap of ignoring trilions of dollars of unfunded liabilities, but like in "rich don't pay taxes", for the argument to be used over and over by the liberals, being based on facts is not a requirement. Joe, It is once in a blue moon that I encounter a person who truly understands what is going on with SS. And you've said the magic words -- "UNFUNDED LIABILITIES". While the liberals take a great deal of pity on the Enron employees whose pensions were stolen, I don't hear them saying a word about the out and out theft of billions every year from taxpayers. And now, they PAYROLL TAX RELIEF for the minimum wage workers. The liberals have created this HUGE unfunded liability, and now they want the middle class to assume the debt, allowing the lower paid employees to walk away from it. If this isn't a recipe for economic failure I don't know what is. Anyway, congratulations on being one of about two people I run into each year who actually comprehend the problem!
