This is First Allied Raid from East, Made Possible by
Secret US-Iranian Accord for Over-flights from New
US Base at Herat, Afghanistan

This worries me, as Iran is probably still supporting more terrorism that Saddam. Looking at the map, we would have had to have Iran's agreement to get to Iraq from there. That base is really great for an Eastern projection of force in the ME. I was shaking my head and thinking about Bush's failure, before election, to be able to name the leaders of these various countries. He sure knows them now! I was not even aware of the existence of countries like Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan a year ago.

I never would have thought it would be the USA who would fight and win the struggle described by Kipling's line from "Kim." "Now I shall go far and far into the North, playing the Great Game..."
