The VIN is on a metal plate on the dash right at the junction with the windshield on the driver's side.

Up on the dashboard. Look through the windshield from the outside, near the bottom on the driver's side.

Just call your local police or by law enforcement officers, let them check out the numbers. If the car does not belong to a neighbour then it is probably stolen and abandoned.
