"It is the most useful thing in the world, insofar as it shows that the principle matters to us in practice, and is thus an essential feature of socialization..........."

My daughters got embroiled in a horrible arguement when they were little. The arguement had to do with who took the last sip of a shared soda pop. Each was assigning blame to the other over the incident. As such things go the arguement escalated more and more until I separated the girls. When we reconviened I made a new rule. The new rule that would be applied to such encounters. The new rule required each daughter to state only what they would like to see happen to improve the situation. This caused them to construct a better foundation for moving forward. Blaming is back looking and seems to take on a life of its own that resolves little.
