Joey,

The biggest problem is gross margins:

"** Gross margin percentage for 2002 is expected to be approximately 49 percent, near the low end of the previous expectation of 51 percent, plus or minus a few points, primarily due to lower than expected revenue in the second half, unrealized manufacturing savings in the third quarter, and higher than expected excess capacity charges in the second half."

I'm not sure what "unrealized manufacturing savings" and "excess capacity charges" mean specifically. With only a 3% sequential growth in 4Q (way below typical seasonality), I expect to see some layoffs.

There is no good news that I can see in this report.

John

A much bigger problem is that the 4Q looks ugly.

Intel is projecting an operating loss. The last time that happened was 16 years ago.
