Tim, thank you for the info but why is it pertinent to about what Joe and I were posting

It is pertinent because of your attempt to weasel out by interchangeably saying that war in Yugoslavia was not a war, that it was not a war by United States but NATO, and that the the only way for the US not to participate was to pull out ot NATO. All of which is of course false.

False? The US is one of the member states in NATO. Its the only non European nation. Under Clinton, the US reduced its contribution to the alliance considerably, and probably at this point, is not a "majority shareholder" as you claim below. In fact, there were three new European members added this year.......increasing the European only focus of the alliance. In fact, NATO is becoming more an adjunct to the EU than the US.

And frankly, I don't see how Tim's post is helpful to your position.

One practical information about NATO that you may want to know is that the US is what I would call a majority shareholder. Nothing happens or is approved without the US initiative and approval.

Who told you? Who died and made you king.....the one most informed? Whoever gave you your info lied to you.

There is nothing in NATO alliance about offensive actions, and the need to participate. That's not what NATO is about. It is about defense, and obligations of member states to defend another member under attack.

Yes, and to protect the stability of Europe. In fact, the unrest in Kosovo and Macedonia was threatening the stability of one of the member states. Can you guess which one?
