Difficult to say. Intel sold more processors at lower ASPs. They gained processor market share and motherboard sales were flat.

So, maybe total PC shipments increased but they had to discount to sell them.

Or, PC shipments were flat and the extra processor sales were at AMD's expense.

If PC shipments were up then I doubt it was by much, due to the comments on low demand and the fact they had to lower ASPs.

But.. the really important thing to consider is the future guidance. They are only expecting a slight uptick for christmas quarter instead of the usual more robust uptick. That is going to make Microsoft's christmas quarter perform below expectations.
