During the 1970's when gold, inflation and interest rates skyrocketed, there were many doom and gloom books out there warning about the coming debt collapse. That collapse never happened.

When you think of it, our money represent shortest term debt since it is backed by nothing but a "promise to pay". That's our system as long as everyone believes in it.

Except for the terror-masters of the world, it's in nobody's interest to see our system collapse. If it did collapse, the result would be chaos, destruction and ultimate tyranny. IMHO, most thinking people don't want that outcome and will therefore support the system.
