The economy has become like the story of the blind men and the elephant. In one place you look there is a definite inflationary trend and in other places you see declining price levels. Different aspects of the economy are not moving in concert. This is because in a situation where the C&I is contracting the money created by the Fed simply goes to pump up prices. Reduced economic activity with rising costs. Nothing shows this better than the last PMI report where the price component has been rising while production is contracting and inventories are rising.
