I was talking to a couple people I met last night. They canceled their trip to D.C. this week due to the sniper, and have no plans in the near future to reschedule they said. I wonder how hurt the tourism industry has been hurt by this??

Oh, would I love to see a Sarbanes-Oxley Act for the government, including the president and congress. To even the playing field the government would be subject to:

-real time disclosures
-responsibility for internal controls
-disclosure of material off-balance transactions (e.g. Social Security liabilities)
-longer statutes of limitations for fraud
-oversight board to compel testimony
-disgorgement of ill-gotten profits
-tough penalties for willfully certifying crappy reports...

You get the idea. What's good for the goose.... I don't think I'll hold my breath on this one.

Yeah ratdog. In Marin County, North of San Francisco,
they are trying to get a study to happen because so many people have gotten cancer, and cancer rates for the nation are the highest in Northern CA. It makes me wonder about
the semiconductor, etc mft in the 70s, all the groundwater stuff, etc. Scary stuff.
