Adam, RE: If you're going to play the game of "include this item, exclude that item, one-time charge for this, etc." (which I don't think the investing public trusts anymore), then I still don't get your numbers.

In Q3 '01, INTC had and EPS of $0.10, excluding acquisition-related charges, and they had $0.11 this quarter, again excluding the charges. Looks like a YOY EPS increase of 10%, and a YOY GAAP EPS increase of 400%.

I don't care what the investing public trusts. I care about getting an accurate picture. In the case of Intel, there's some ongoing acquisition related goodwill that seems to recur and thus I'd just as soon include that in my numbers, but that's a minor quibble.

You're right, I'm wrong, there appears to be a YOY EPS pro forma increase of about 10%. I saw that Intel broke out acquisition related goodwill and other goodwill on the income statement this time around and didn't realize that these numbers were consolidated in the pro forma adjustment last year.

I note also that the Q3 '01 results included a $100mm tax benefit. I'm not sure right now whether Intel had those in the pro forma numbers or not.

I usually wait until the 10-Q comes out to dig into the numbers like this, but given our discussion, it may make sense for me to do so.
