Yes, I read about fifty of them in a very boring summer holiday of three months when I was about 15 (arguably not the healthiest age to be exposed to the genre). And I agree with you wholeheartedly about their quality (par rapport aux autres dans le genre) and the savory scenes :) And I had completely forgotten that the author was French. That's quite amusing in light of my recent exposure to this culture :) Not that I had the opportunity to check the books over in later years, as my mother discovered my SAS drawer at the end of that summer and, amid flowing tears (hers), throw them away...
