This last post just reminds me once again about the limits of conversations with you.

excuse me john... i'm the one who took the time to explain my position and you're the one to doesn't even have the decency to explain yours.

this is a discussion thread. that means you are supposed to offer some original thoughts and opinions about foreign affairs and some logic to back them up, not just regurgitate the obvious (such as describing the current power struggle between hamas and arafat).

but i will grant you that you do remind me very much of a certain professor i had.... who offered only the vaguest analysis of the interplay of powerful agendas that make up any foreign policy decision and then expected us to repeat them for verbatim on his essay tests, where his ta would then peruse them to see if "we covered all the points"..

you could offer him all the reality and alternative analysis in the world regarding his themes and that wouldn't matter. all that mattered was that you regurgitated what he had told you.

and that isn't discussion john.. that's called myopic thinking, or even worse, intellectual brain-washing..

i would be happy to see you offer some convincing logic to back up any semi-original thoughts you might have. i wouldn't even have to agree with you. there are plenty of people out here that i don't agree with, but that i respect... people who believe what they believe and are willing to stick their intellectural necks out to enuciate it. at least they are willing to take some time to attempt to do so, not just to dip their toes into some pool of deep thought.

sad to say, i can't count you amongst such people. i wish i could, but you just "don't have the time or inclination" to grace us with your "profound" thinking.
