o/t monu - ["Islamic Fundamentalism is our greatest threat. He was and he is right. Saddam is NOT an Islamic fundamentalist"]

...I appreciate your view.

There is no perfect solution...but, to the above; while Saddam is NOT an Islamic fundamentalist... he is much worse; as he is both the Financial & Bio-Nuclear technology sponsor of FUNDAMENTALIST terror groups as well as a despot who has already proven he will use weapons of mass destruction on his neighbors and his own people.

He must go; the greater good & need is to immediately shut down both his financial sponsorship of terror and his unquestionable pursuit of bio & nuclear weapons of increasing reach & power.

One other factor; GW may have significant intelligence that is being shared from within Saddam's present regime; if so, he would obviously be unable to cite the source, or even perhaps name the exact threat situation without giving up an invaluable intelligence source.

I was curious as to Tony Blair's rapid conversion...I think much of it had to do with non-public intelligence.

Also, imagine the public media lynching of GW if we were to become the victim of a domestic bio/dirty nuke event and the source of that financial, or technological sponsorship was traced back to Saddam ?

It would make the Sept 11th criticism pale exponentially in comparison.

I think there is so much more, that we don't know... that is propelling GW toward a necessary rapid move to eliminate this threat to global peace.

I also think we should retain a portion of the Iraqi Oil Fields as reparations for our efforts in the earlier Gulf War as well as the ongoing War on Terrorism and the Nation Building in Afghanistan and Iraq. We should build a new, very significant permanent Military Base in the region of the Iraq Oil Fields and maintain that presence permanently to help stabilize the Region.
