It's odd how the foreign press sees us, isn't it? And I think they see our (sometimes very vitriolic) political arguments as evidence of much more division than really exists. They can't seem to come to grips with the patchwork nature of American culture. When it comes down to it, we're all Americans first. We love our country, cheer when things go well, mourn when things go poorly.
