Ahhh, another voice in the wilderness harboring IBM tales untold. Do tell, we will protect your identity and deny all knowledge should the future ghost of Lou Gerstner drop by here.

My sister worked for IBM so long ago that dinnertime occasionally included talk of $400 share prices and 4 for 1 splits. If you're retired, maybe you can remember those days too.

My sister's greatest act at IBM to my knowledge was being the demonstration typist for the media rollout of the original braille typewriter, which had actually been invented by an IBM employee at home in his basement.

I think they gave him $100 or something for his idea -- that was really big of them, don't you think -- does Big Blue still have that old 'suggestion reward' plan in place these days?
