"Liberal closed mindedness certainly does keep you in line."

I dumped your link as soon as I saw it was Newsmax. They make no pretense at being the least bit objective and distort and outright lie to support their cause. Now if you would care to show by example why you think the Times is "very" liberal I'll listen.

"When I asked her which system she would prefer to live under, socialism or democracy, her very disturbing reply was socialism."

You have any experience with socialism? Would you mind living in Scandanavia? I don't favor socialism either but I think you have a knee jerk reaction to the very thought.

Re: your friends son....why doesn't he have a new job...could it be that he can't find one? This economy sucks in case you haven't noticed all the lay-offs. Were you ever forced to collect unemployment? I admit there are those who would rather do that than work, but they are very very few.....You know anything about your friends son? Is he a lout?

If you consider yourself a reasonable person, you too will reject Newsmax or at least read it in secret....

>>We had a very serious discussion <<

>>We had a very serious discussion about democracy. When I asked her which system she would prefer to live under, socialism or democracy, her very disturbing reply was socialism.<<

Socialism] was first applied in England to Owen's theory of social reconstruction, and in France to those also of St. Simon and Fourier . . . The word, however, is used with a great variety of meaning, . . . even by economists and learned critics. The general tendency is to regard as socialistic any interference undertaken by society on behalf of the poor, . . . radical social reform which disturbs the present system of private property . . . The tendency of the present socialism is more and more to ally itself with the most advanced democracy. --Encyc. Brit.

de·moc·ra·cy

Re: "Even conservatives read the very liberal NYTs bla bla bla ... several respected journalists have contributed bla bla bla ..."

Moe: Comparing the New York Times to newsmax.com is like comparing the Queen Mary (the ship) to a garbage barge.
