INSTANT VIEW-Nokia <NOK1V.HE> Q3 profit EUR 1.25 bln

HELSINKI, Oct 17 (Reuters) - The world's largest mobile
phone maker Nokia <NOK1V.HE> on Thursday reported third-quarter
pro forma pre-tax profits rising almost 17 percent year-on-year
to 1.25 billion euros ($1.22 billion).
Following are analysts' comments on the Finnish telecom
equipment maker's results.
JUSSI USKOLA, NORDEA SECURITIES
"Overall the result was very good. Nokia is continuing to
dominate the mobile phone market."
"Nokia's 3G revenue recognition (forecast) was a bit higher
than I expected for the fourth quarter."
"I still think that there are risks for the positive
consensus estimates for Ericsson's result (on Friday), but we
are now a bit more confident on that."
MARKO MAUNULA, CONVENTUM
"Nokia's sales were at least satisfactory, and the
profitability of its handset business managed to surprise again
positively. The sales guidance for the fourth quarter was a bit
of a disappointment, but in these economic conditions the
overall result was very good."
JUSSI HYOTY, FIM SECURITIES
"The result is still strong -- it's a bit better than
expected, but relative to sales it's a slight disappointment."
"The (forecast for fourth-quarter) pro forma EPS of 0.23 to
0.25 euros is quite good. The fourth quarter is important and it
seems to be better than what has been expected when based on the
Reuters poll for 2002."
