Cheney is fulcrum of foreign policy

In interagency fights,
his views often prevail

I'm not sure what it is in the article you cited that leads to a conclusion that Bush is "simple minded". The guy brought on board what is arguably the most qualified cabinet in history. And yet you would criticize him for it.

The fact that Bush has attached ACTUAL WORK to the Vice Presidency is somehow a negative? Early in the Clinton presidency there were lauditory reports concerning Al Gore's "active participation" -- what a positive this was then. Now, when we have a truly competent individual in the Vice Presidency, the fact that he is playing the most active role in the history of the Vice Presidency is a negative.

I find it refreshing to see an administration that is actually functioning as it should. Bush had the good sense and the confidence to install a cabinet that is not full of Al-Gore-Yes-Men. So Bush gets honest-to-god good advice, then makes the decision. By all accounts, Bush is the decision maker. I've yet to see a credible report to the contrary.

I'll ask again. If you have some basis for concluding that Bush is "simple minded", let's hear it. Put up or shut up.
