Well, this laptop I am using at home has Windows XP and that almost never crashes or seizes up. I have to completely reboot Windows 98 in my office every couple of hours, or sometimes more often.

I suppose some of these newer machines can do things that others couldn't. For example, I could watch a DVD on this one. But I don't have time to watch DVDs, pirate software or music, play games, scan pictures of myself grinning, download pornography, etc., so any old machine is almost as good for my purposes.
