Couldn't agree more. The consumer (or more properly, his waning ability to borrow) is on his (its) last legs and once the refi game caves, it will be lights out.

The September-to-Christmas retail scene is already shaping up as a clanger, the zero percent financed auto game is in the fourth quarter, and the lay-offs continue. No wonder Bush wants to "Wag the Dog".

This ain't nothin' but a standard, bear market rally, with a nice options icing on it.
