Trade Gap Jumps to Record $38.4 Billion

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. trade deficit jumped nearly 10 percent in August to a record $38.46 billion, as exports declined for the first time in six months and record demand for foreign consumer goods pushed imports to their highest level since March 2001, the government said on Friday.
