GUS,

<<"It's not all [the fault of] IT spending.>>

Even though I am not a fan of WS analysts I sort of agree with this one. Weak spending is not the only reason for EMC's problems.
EMC's management has never recognized or even admitted that there is serious competition out there and have in the past dismissed it in an arrogant sort of way(If you listened to their CC's during the good years you know what I mean). It has finally caught up with them and that is going to make it more difficult for this company to recover.
Don't get me wrong. I am not an EMC basher. I may not be as heavily invested as I was in the past but I still own the few shares that I bought some 3 months ago.
I would like nothing better than to see EMC, SUNW, CSCO, MSFT etc. do well so that we can all go back to the business of making money, but I have become more and more pessimistic every time EMC releases their quarterly results.
They have been wrong about their own projections starting with Jan of 2001 when they claimed a 35% growth rate. It has been downhill from then on.

I dont listen to ANY analysts anymore. I will remind all that when stocks were trading at all time highs they kept saying its going higher. Now when they are at Multiyear lows they say its going lower. What a bunch of dunderheads. Truth is the MACRO environment is controlling prices now. Until the worldwide economy picks up everyone is sitting on their cash and underspending their budgets ESPECIALLY in Tech. Thats the facts, thats the ONLY facts important now. What we got here is an extremely FINANCIALLY strong company that will weather this UNTIL Environment changes. Cant say when that will be but it WILL BE eventually. All this BS about the stock price one day to another or the revenue on qtr to another means NOTHING. JDN
