Hi Snowshoe, <<XAU and HUI looking a bit weak as we approach a test of the 2-year uptrend line>> consider it a gift, though I am not sure why.

BTW, North Korea has two ingredients for a new class of weapon systems (a) miniature submarines launchable from fishing boats, (b) the big kaboom, (c) the system is designed to defeat all anti-missile defense system costing however billions or even trillions of any paper money, (d) the US says it will resolve dispute in peaceful manner, presumably because (e) most in world, even the US, know the North Koreans mean business in matters of kaboom, kidnaping, suicide sea-borne raids, and its rockets can already reach every inch of Japan, and getting bigger with each passing day.

This WILL become a high impact issue in 2003.

The Iraq dog & pony show may be less of an issue, unless they too make an announcement as the North Koreans did.

If I were Israel, I would launch attack now, with rockets smuggled into and launched from Southern France, disguised as Canadian trees.

And, a side remark, I see the Yen is, coincidentally, at 125.x, and it looks like my Yen loan + 50% conversion to USD (at 124 rate:0) trade is inching in the correct direction.

The at times psychotic North Koreans have some serious issues with Japan, who in turn similarly do not have any friends in the neighborhood.

Advise for Japan - it is time to try to make some friends, and as China makes many things, while South Korea make many other things, I am guessing Japan will have to go the direct route of gifting their paper money in ever more copious quantities, in the direction of China, Russia, North and South Korea, and the USA.

That be my Script for this play.

Chugs, Jay
