This crowd has the gall to sneer at people trying to keep the United States out of war as being "appeasers," if not traitors.

Kind of extreme that last bit, don't you think?

I've not read every single post on this board but I don't expect anyone here who is a US citizen has used the T word against you or anyone else who is against going to war with Saddam.

They act as if it were brave for a fat, pale-skinned journalist or commentator to advocate war that will be fought by other people's sons and daughters.

I'm not fat, but I'm overweight and pale skinned, and I have to say the idea of sending folk off to fight makes me feel nauseous, but I think it nonetheless will be necessary in the end to make war against the Iraqi regime.

It is the worst kind of moral cowardice to be for war if you yourself are not going to participate in the fighting.

Rubbish, this is not even close to logical - it's a variation on ad hominem. I would bet the writer can't even define "moral cowardice".

Is sarcasm in opposition to "war early, war often" a virtue or a vice?

I don't really care a damn myself if someone's sarcastic and sneering, or not. I hope they have something to say, and if they do, they can dress it up in any kind of rhetoric they like. It's possible if they send it towards me I might reply in kind but mostly I won't 'cause I'm really horribly sarcastic by nature and I've found it don't win friends or change folks' minds.
