Peter,

I've only heard of one, anecdotally, that took place after the liberation of Kuwait amidst the celebrations in Kuwait City in late Feb 1991.

It would be rare that a falling bullet....straight up and straight down would do much damage.....since at some point the projectile is at a dead stop.....the velocity from that point on would be a matter of mass and gravity....

I grand head ache would be in order......and probably a puncture of soft tissue......

But a round fired in an arch would probably be lethal.
