Personally I don't think AMD will put their s/c division on the block.
OTOH, maybe someone makes a hostile bid for the whole company.

Amy, RE: So Intel pushes another competitor off the ring, and the analysts reward this with gloom and doom. Long-term investing is obviously only 3 months long.

A difference in time horizon is probably the primary reason that an individual can outperform many institutions.
