Ftom Jon on my board on the FOOL

the good, their licensing program gave one last whammy to unearned revenue.... increasing it enough to make sure they make earnings all this coming year..... the really good, MSFT spent $billions buying back stock at lowered prices this quarter.....

the Bad, not much more can be expected from this licensing program this rest of the fiscal year, meaning unearned revenues should now come down harshly and significantly quarter after quarter..... the really bad, MSFT issued millions of new options at new even lower strike prices this quarter.....(the worst kind)

the ugly, MSFT stock holder equity increased by only $1.336 billion, while they granted 107 million new options during the same quarter..... at todays prices, that is an added $5.655 billion of added future dilution taking value away from your stock.... so much so that MSFT had to buy back about $3.5 billion in stock IN THIS SINGLE QUARTER, to make earnings, (they normally buy back $6 billion in an ENTIRE YEAR)...

the really ugly, they made about $2.7 billion in net income, and had to spend $3.5 billion of that buying back stock so that the earnings numbers were not diluted out of street estimate range....

all in all, MSFT improved your true value by 0.4% of market cap.... the market however is giving this value increase a 10 fold multiple already today..... something will give..... don't be the last on your block to figure it out.......
