Think they'll pitch to Bonds? I bet Fankie Rodriquez (that rookie right hander with the heat) will throw to him. That dude looks like he's got ice water in his veins and spits ice cubes. Bonds certainly seems to be able to get inside the heads of pitchers and managers. I bet greats like Bob Gibson, Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan, Drysdale, and others would make him think twice about staying so close to the plate. Most pitchers don't even think of brushing him back or aiming in the areas that the armor doesn't cover. They don't try to get inside Bond's head. They don't even seem to paint the corners to Bonds. He scares 'em too much. He's got a great eye and don't seem to let the walks pith him off too much. I heard someone on TV point out that even if they pitch to Bonds you have to figure he's gonna be out 7 times out of 10. Why not take a chance and pitch to the dude in the late innings if no one is one base. Otherwise he ends up scoring usually. One thing I was thinking about is that I bet Dusty Baker doesn't have the players bunt over the runners as much in this series. Small ball will be less important. I don't think there will be any 2-1 games. Perhaps higher scores like 8-5 or 10-6. The Angels seem to have all of their players hitting on all cylinders right now. They also hit lots of hits to the 2nd baseman. Jeff Kent better be ready. This Series is gonna be a real battle. I can hardly wait. -WillieMaysCatch
