I believe that the shootings have ended in the D.C. area. Now that we have announced military surveillance equipment, they will not take the risk.

I predict that next week they will start in another area.

I believe this is al Qaeda testing the resources and response times of law enforcement in the DC vicinity as a prelude to ground attacks on important targets such as Pentagon, CIA and White House. They are getting lots of counterintelligence out of this. And they are seeing what it will take to divert large police resources away from what they really want to attack.
