That is an interesting conjecture regarding the hedge funds' effect on the market. If the market has become dominated by day and swing traders, then it may just behave as always, only with more volatility and less bias to the upside. After all, people are still people and the herd instinct is still alive and well.

On the other hand, it could have a tendency to drive the market towards a horizontal trading range instead of a long term up-channel.

No matter what, the best strategy is still to buy low and sell high, but not necessarily in that order.

Mark L deserves a "Cool Post" award for that one.

It certainly seems were in the midst of a "melt-up" right now. All bad news is quickly digested and back upward.

Yesterday in AH I dumped all my remnant tech positions. Basically have a 20% short position and some energy longs here (NBR and NE). I may be one of those lab rats that Mark L refers to.
