Seriously, we are not Japan. They were already used to very low yields on savings and were still big savers, rather than borrower-spenders, so low rates stimulated nothing. Low rates here, OTOH, created a refi boom and the result is increased discretionary spending capacity that will be reflected in coming months and years.
