Agreed. We incurable optimists think that unless we get blown to hell, progress will keep marching on, r.e., tech, medicine and etc., in spite of occasional hysterics.

after all the internet is a pretty huge deal with a lot left to exploit

Just like railroads, telephone, radio, all went thru crashes and re-emerged, those dot-com cliches are still correct, imo.

It's like the Sufi judge who said everyone in the courtroom was right.
It's just being right at different times.
