Scott, All I can say is WOW. I never thought I would see an avowed liberal looking to fingerprint any population prior to a criminal act. The ALCU goes nuts over overuse of the Social Security number. Why don't we build a database of everyones DNA and fingerprints and be done with it? John

That sounds like a reasonable compromise...lets fingerprint gunowners and get an UP-TO-DATE national database that will allow authorities to track criminals more effectively. Criminals ? Oh, you're referring to law abiding hunters and other hobbyists who lawfully purchase their firearms. Of course demonizing these people is a favorite pastime of the gun grabbers. How about a mandatory DNA database for all US citizens while you're at it ? Should breeze right thru in the present post 9/11 environment.
