i want to replace one of the hard drives on my computer without changing the letters of any of the drives.
c drive, is an old drive that i only use for backup. my second drive is divided into 3 partitions, d, which i boot to, e, and f.

i want to replace the c drive with out changing the letter designation of the other drives.

one way i though i could do this would be to set the bios to boot to a cd, remove both drives, install the new drive on the primary drive cable, bootup and install the os -- win2k. when i have successfully installed that drive i could then install the d,e,f drive and reboot.

this sounds as though it should work. does it make sense to anyone? is there a better way.

It happened but even better than I thought. I received a brand new power supply in a sealed retail box and despite Antec taking my credit info they never even charged my card. I guess they give you a grace period instead of charging then crediting your card.
