I agree with Rex - A Pentium box running Linux (maybe even from Dell, they will sell Linux to anyone who buys 30 machines at a time) is more cost effective than a Sun box for most server apps.

The workstation and server businesses are becoming commoditized. Good news for the consumers, bad for Sun.

Also, IBM now has Linux running on every one of thier platforms.

I don't see how Sun can solve this problem, other than become more of a software company, which they have tried with Java and Tcl/Tkl
