breaking away from our reliance upon Mideast oil This is a "Chimera" that is never going to happen, jcky. Talking about it is just "chin-wagging." Yes, I am on the "good" end of our "Ponzi Scheme." Looks like it might make it though my lifetime, but it is, like all Government Programs, in deep trouble. I accept Police and Defense as a U S function, because we are a long way from being able to privatize it. But I recognize how inefficient it is. It takes at least three times the effort to get the same result as a private company when you use a non-profit bureaucracy. No way to get around it. So I don't favor subsidies, tax breaks, etc, to get to new methods of using energy. Let the market take care of it.
