By my definition Max pain did not fail this month.
INTC MSFT QQQ CSCO all touched max pain this week.
Thus it was a success.

The rally that led to max pain continued into a derivative meltup that went well beyond pain (unfortunately to the shorts).

My Max Pain theory suggests only that max pian will be reached. It does not state what happens after it gets there. TYPICALLY it reverses but this is the second time it did not.

I warned about this and said a close above 22.5 was ominous for the bears. It was.

The last time this happened was May and we contimued for two more days after. Then we had the summer collapse.

Will this be a repeat?
Do not know.

Jeff's retrace might have better insights.
