I think that is part of it. One of the things that I brought up a couple of years ago was the tech revolution was requiring that businesses upgrade their equipment before they could get a return on investment. I played in the telecom world and that was always a big concern of mine. The old class 4 and class 5 switches could stay installed for 10, 20 even 30 years. After three or four years, they telecom companies would have paid for the equipment, then it was all gravy from there. One of the things that I see as really screwing things up was the Telecom act of 1996. It forced the incumbent telecom companies to compete with newcomers and they were forced to provide the newcomers with access to their infrastructure. That forced an escalation of infrastructure upgrades before they could come close to getting a return on investment, just so they didn't lose their market share.

anyway..blah blah blah....fed mucking with money supply and interest rates, congress mucking around with business with the telecom act...lot of this could have been avoided. Most of this was actually manufactured.
