Hi Dennis,

The ratio we developed is very close to the ARMS index, however, we screen just for those that trade above average volume, (regardless of the price change), in the stocks that trade over 200K shares ADV, and separate stocks by the 50DMA as up trending or down trending. So a stock that is below its 50DMA on a bounce wouldn't show up in our ratio on the up side, nor would an up trending stock show up on the down side of the ratio on a day it dropped ... until it fell below its 50DMA and was no longer considered an up trending stock.

Since we have always screened stocks with similar criteria we began to notice the relationship between the screening of the stock trending up and those trending down and began keeping track of the ratio between the two.

Clear as mud? <g> Just ask away, we've had company all weekend and I'll gladly make another attempt if this isn't understandable...

Sam
