": "They shall look upon Him, whom they have pierced."

Already fulfilled with those with eyes to see and ears to hear.

Acts 2
"37": Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

"38": Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
"39": For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

"40": And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

"41": Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls

Acts 6

"7": And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith. "

Stan

I do not believe in double fulfillment at all. I did at one time. I think it was Milton Terry's book that healed me of that notion. Do you have a copy of Milton Terry's "Biblical Hermeneutics"? It one of those books that is really worth buying. You see I used to think that David must have had his own Judas and that those verses were about someone he knew as well as being about the one who would betray Christ. I think Acts 2 speaks against that very loudly when Peter used this line of thinking:

Acts 1:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

My opinion is that we need to listen when the apostles themselves tell us that scripture has been fulfilled. Can you agree that Peter is teaching that "Christ sitting on David's throne" is in Peter mind already accomplished when he boldly explained that "spake of the resurrection of Christ" In the same area we have the these PLAIN and LITERAL words:

Acts 1:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Peter explains that Joel's prophecy IS FULFILLED in the day of pentecoste when he says this is that which was spoken Not will be that - Not part of that - But IS THAT How can anyone expect a second or double fulfillment if Peter states it as being fulfilled?

I can't. Seriously though I think you would be well pleased in buying Terry's book. If you are too poor try borrowing it - it costs about 50 bucks - yikes!
