No. Dead Wrong. And I hope we never learn what you seem to see as the point. The point is that training Afghan freedom fighters was the correct decision at that time and place and it eventually succeeded in making it so costly that the USSR had to withdraw....and ultimately helped to contribute to the collapse of that rotten system. The mistake that was made was in not addressing the vacuum created by the withdrawal of the Sovs and the collapse of the puppet regime.....a mistake the Bush Administration is not likely to repeat in Iraq....
