Favre sprains knee

Brett Favre, who started for the 164th consecutive time Oct.20, [a record] hobbled off the field with a sprained left knee Oct. 20 after getting sacked by Washington's LaVar Arrington [beast!] . Favre, the NFC's leading passer at age 33, was replaced by backup Doug Pederson. On second-and-6 from the Green Bay 24, Arrington and fellow linebacker Jeremiah Trotter blitzed Favre and sandwiched him. Arrington was credited with the 12-yard sack. With running back Ahman Green and right guard Marco Rivera both running left, right tackle Earl Dotson was left to pick up both linebackers. Trotter went around Dotson's left, Arrington went right, and the Redskins converged on Favre as he backpedaled. Favre got up quickly but limped off. Team doctors examined him on the sideline, and the Packers announced he would not return.
