There are many more TV Cameras than most people realize, but still not as many as the UK. Camera survellince is increasing rapid since costs have come down.

Correct. Historically, that's because the founders of the U.S. were the ones doing the shooting, rather than being shot. Sort of like the Normans making the rules after 1066...

Privacy is being pushed back very fast, however.

Ultil recently, the U.S. tilted much more towards freedom than safety or "security".
